Salome considers the patient’s history, visible findings and telehealth limitations before deciding how to proceed.
What to prepare
Report fever, back pain, pregnancy status if relevant, recurrent infections, and medication allergies. Bring information about allergies, other conditions and your preferred local pharmacy.
When not to wait for video care
Fever with flank pain, pregnancy-related symptoms, vomiting or severe illness requires prompt in-person evaluation. If this is an emergency, call 911.
Next steps after the consultation
After clinical evaluation, the plan may include self-care counseling, follow-up, a referral, a local examination or testing. Any treatment or prescription depends on clinical judgment and applicable law.
Questions Iowa patients ask before booking
Straight answers to common concerns. A video visit may help determine the right next step, but it cannot replace every examination or test.
Can I get help for UTI symptoms online in Iowa?
Yes. An Iowa video visit can assess burning urination, frequency and urgency, but an examination or urine test may be needed. Salome will determine whether video care is appropriate.
Is burning when I pee always a UTI?
No. Burning may result from a UTI, sexually transmitted infection, irritation or another condition. The right testing depends on symptoms and exposures.
When should I seek in-person care instead of a video visit?
Fever with back or side pain, vomiting, severe illness, pregnancy-related symptoms or inability to urinate needs prompt in-person assessment. Call 911 for an emergency.
Can I request an antibiotic without a urine test?
A prescription is never guaranteed. Salome considers your history, clinical risk and whether testing is needed before recommending treatment.
Ready to discuss your concern?
Video visits are available daily, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Central (Iowa) time. Booking takes about two minutes, and no payment is taken when you book.
