Salome considers the patient’s history, visible findings and telehealth limitations before deciding how to proceed.
What to prepare
Bring blood sugar logs, recent lab reports, medication details and any episodes of low blood sugar. Bring information about allergies, other conditions and your preferred local pharmacy.
When not to wait for video care
Confusion, severe dehydration, persistent vomiting or signs of a diabetic emergency require immediate in-person care. If this is an emergency, call 911.
Next steps after the consultation
After clinical evaluation, the plan may include self-care counseling, follow-up, a referral, a local examination or testing. Any treatment or prescription depends on clinical judgment and applicable law.
Questions Iowa patients ask before booking
Straight answers to common concerns. A video visit may help determine the right next step, but it cannot replace every examination or test.
Can a nurse practitioner manage diabetes follow-ups by video in Iowa?
Many diabetes follow-ups can be conducted by video when clinically appropriate. Lab results, home glucose records and complication screening may also be needed.
What should I have ready for a diabetes visit?
Bring your glucose readings, medication list, recent A1c result if available, and questions about diet, activity or side effects.
Can I get a diabetes prescription renewed online?
Medication changes or refills depend on clinical assessment, history and applicable requirements. A prescription is not guaranteed simply because you booked.
Ready to discuss your concern?
Video visits are available daily, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Central (Iowa) time. Booking takes about two minutes, and no payment is taken when you book.
