Book a Video Visit ↗When a virtual visit may help
Salome considers the patient’s history, visible findings and telehealth limitations before deciding how to proceed.
What to prepare
Be ready to describe timing, symptoms, partner exposure and any prior tests in a private setting. Bring information about allergies, other conditions and your preferred local pharmacy.
When not to wait for video care
Possible HIV exposure in the past 72 hours needs prompt assessment for PEP; do not wait for a routine booking. If this is an emergency, call 911.
Next steps after the consultation
After clinical evaluation, the plan may include self-care counseling, follow-up, a referral, a local examination or testing. Any treatment or prescription depends on clinical judgment and applicable law.
Questions Iowa patients ask before booking
Straight answers to common concerns. A video visit may help determine the right next step, but it cannot replace every examination or test.
I am embarrassed about a possible STI. Can I talk privately first?
Yes. A video consultation offers a private way to discuss symptoms, exposures and next steps. Testing may still be necessary; a message or video visit alone cannot rule out an STI.
Can an STI be present without symptoms?
Yes. Many sexually transmitted infections may cause few or no symptoms, so screening can matter even when you feel well.
Could I be tested at a lab near me?
Salome can discuss whether testing or an in-person assessment is needed, and whether an appropriate local testing option is available. Do not assume lab ordering is included until confirmed.
What if I was exposed to HIV in the last 72 hours?
Seek urgent in-person medical evaluation immediately for HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Do not wait for a routine video booking; PEP must be started as soon as possible and within 72 hours when indicated.
Will my college or family find out about my visit?
Healthcare confidentiality protections apply, but exceptions and insurance communications may affect privacy. Ask about your specific circumstances before booking; do not promise absolute secrecy.
Ready to discuss your concern?
Video visits are available daily, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Central (Iowa) time. Booking takes about two minutes, and no payment is taken when you book.
