When a virtual visit may help

Salome considers the patient’s history, visible findings and telehealth limitations before deciding how to proceed.

What to prepare

Prepare clear images, timing of onset, any new medicines and possible exposures. Bring information about allergies, other conditions and your preferred local pharmacy.

When not to wait for video care

A rapidly spreading rash, blistering with illness, facial swelling or suspected serious infection needs prompt in-person care. If this is an emergency, call 911.

Next steps after the consultation

After clinical evaluation, the plan may include self-care counseling, follow-up, a referral, a local examination or testing. Any treatment or prescription depends on clinical judgment and applicable law.

Safety: Video care is not emergency care. For life-threatening symptoms call 911. Telehealth is used only when clinically appropriate.

Questions Iowa patients ask before booking

Straight answers to common concerns. A video visit may help determine the right next step, but it cannot replace every examination or test.

Can Salome examine a rash on video?

Many visible rashes can be discussed and partially assessed by video if lighting and camera quality are sufficient. Some require an in-person skin examination.

Can you treat a rash from a photo alone?

A photo may help, but a full history and sometimes an examination are needed. A prescription cannot be promised.

What skin symptoms require urgent care?

Rapidly spreading painful redness with fever, severe allergic reaction, facial swelling or breathing problems need prompt urgent or emergency evaluation.
