Salome considers the patient’s history, visible findings and telehealth limitations before deciding how to proceed.
What to prepare
Explain one or both eyes, discharge, contacts use, pain, visual changes and recent injury. Bring information about allergies, other conditions and your preferred local pharmacy.
When not to wait for video care
Severe eye pain, vision loss, contact-lens-related pain or chemical exposure needs immediate in-person assessment. If this is an emergency, call 911.
Next steps after the consultation
After clinical evaluation, the plan may include self-care counseling, follow-up, a referral, a local examination or testing. Any treatment or prescription depends on clinical judgment and applicable law.
Questions Iowa patients ask before booking
Straight answers to common concerns. A video visit may help determine the right next step, but it cannot replace every examination or test.
Can pink eye be evaluated by video?
Some mild eye concerns may be triaged through video, but the cause cannot always be determined without an eye examination.
Is antibiotic eye treatment always needed?
No. Eye irritation can be viral, allergic, bacterial or due to other conditions. Treatment depends on the diagnosis.
When should I see an eye clinician urgently?
Eye pain, vision changes, light sensitivity, contact-lens-related severe symptoms or injury needs prompt in-person evaluation.
Ready to discuss your concern?
Video visits are available daily, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Central (Iowa) time. Booking takes about two minutes, and no payment is taken when you book.
