Salome considers the patient’s history, visible findings and telehealth limitations before deciding how to proceed.
What to prepare
Report your symptoms, temperature, any home test results, pregnancy status if relevant, and conditions affecting risk. Bring information about allergies, other conditions and your preferred local pharmacy.
When not to wait for video care
Difficulty breathing, chest pain, confusion or dehydration require immediate evaluation. If this is an emergency, call 911.
Next steps after the consultation
After clinical evaluation, the plan may include self-care counseling, follow-up, a referral, a local examination or testing. Any treatment or prescription depends on clinical judgment and applicable law.
Questions Iowa patients ask before booking
Straight answers to common concerns. A video visit may help determine the right next step, but it cannot replace every examination or test.
Can a video visit help with cough, flu or COVID symptoms?
Often yes for mild-to-moderate symptoms. The visit can assess risk, discuss testing and determine if further evaluation is needed.
Can I get antiviral treatment through telehealth?
Treatment depends on diagnosis, risk factors, timing and clinical judgment. Some medications are time-sensitive; a prescription is not guaranteed.
When is a respiratory illness too serious for telehealth?
Trouble breathing, persistent chest pain, confusion or concerning dehydration warrants urgent in-person or emergency evaluation.
Ready to discuss your concern?
Video visits are available daily, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Central (Iowa) time. Booking takes about two minutes, and no payment is taken when you book.
